You’re Invited to Our Grand Opening

Five years in the making. A new sacred place in the heart of Whistler. Everyone is welcome.

After five years of planning, building, praying and dreaming, Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church is opening its doors, and we would love for you to be part of this special day.

We warmly invite the entire Whistler community, and friends and visitors from around the world, to come inside, explore our new church and celebrate this extraordinary milestone with us. You do not need to be Catholic to attend. Whether you are a longtime parishioner, a neighbour who has watched the church take shape, a visitor to Whistler, a person of another faith, or simply curious about the building and the story behind it, our doors are open to you.

Beginning at 2:30 pm, guided church tours will depart every 15 minutes until 4:00 pm. This is an opportunity to experience the church in a completely different way and discover the meaning behind what you see. Learn about the architecture and design of the building, explore the rich symbolism found throughout Catholic sacred spaces, and discover some of the remarkable details within our new spiritual home, including our sacred relics and the stories behind them.

At 4:00 pm, we will gather for a special presentation sharing the story of Our Lady of the Mountains and the journey that brought this new church to life. The presentation will be followed by the celebration of Mass, and everyone is welcome to attend, including those who have never experienced a Catholic Mass before. Afterwards, please stay and join us for refreshments, conversation and a community gathering as we celebrate together.

Our Lady of the Mountains was built as a Catholic church, but it also stands within one of the world’s most welcoming and international mountain communities. We hope it will become a place where people can encounter beauty, experience peace, ask questions, celebrate important moments and, perhaps, encounter God in an unexpected way.

Bring your family. Bring a friend. Come for a tour, stay for the celebration, or simply step through the doors and discover Whistler’s newest sacred space.
